President Trump’s strong response to the Coronavirus pandemic is gathering support from the American people… and even Trump’s biggest nemesis, CNN, is joining in the praise.
CNN anchor Dana Bash complimented the “tone” of President Trump’s responses, saying he should be praised from both an “American” and a “human standpoint.”
“If you look at the big picture, this was remarkable by the President of the United States,” Bash said, on Tuesday. “This is a nonpartisan, this is an important thing to note and to applaud, from an American standpoint, from a human standpoint.”
CNN has long been at odds with President Trump–and the President has repeatedly attacked CNN as “fake news” throughout his presidency. When CNN starts praising Trump’s response, it marks a watershed moment.
But CNN isn’t the only praise President Trump’s response is getting. It has also won over a plurality voters.
According to a poll released Monday by Morning Consult, 47 percent of voters approve of Trump’s handling of the crisis. Just 43 percent disapprove.
That’s a remarkable shift from just last week, when 42 percent approved of Trumps’ response and 45 percent disapproved.
It remains to be seen whether Trump’s shift in tone–and his strong response–will help change the course of the epidemic.
Already, 88 Americans have died in the United States–and more than 4,400 people have been infected.
