Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.)’s endorsement of Joe Biden has left the socialist Senator’s campaign team fuming.
Sanders’ national press secretary, Briahna Joy Gray, took to Twitter just moments after the endorsement–to make it clear that she did not support it.
“With the utmost respect for Bernie Sanders, who is an incredible human being & a genuine inspiration, I don’t endorse Joe Biden,” Gray wrote on Twitter on Monday. “I supported Bernie Sanders because he backed ideas like #MedicareForAll, canceling ALL student debt, & a wealth tax. Biden supports none of those.”
Another top surrogate for Sanders, activist Shaun King, slammed the endorsement… and obliquely attacked Joe Biden’s declining mental acuity.
“I can hardly believe what I am watching,” King wrote, of Biden and Sanders’ first appearance together. “In his conversation with @BernieSanders – @JoeBiden is clearly reading from a TelePrompTer. It’s supposed to be a CONVERSATION. I’ve never seen this happen in my entire life.”
Despite the bad blood between the Biden and Sanders camps, the Biden campaign appears to be making more overtures to help win over disgruntled leftists. On Tuesday morning, sources said that two Sanders foreign policy advisers had been given an “open invitation” to join the Biden team.
