Pelosi Claims Sexism Over Trump Meeting

Nancy Pelosi
Has she ever been to a large meeting before? Doesn't that basically happen to everyone?

After her recent meeting with President Trump, to negotiate the future of immigration policy, Nancy Pelosi complained that it was hard for her to get a word in – because she was a woman.

In a contentious discussion with fellow Democrat, Chuck Schumer, the President, and numerous Trump administration advisors, Pelosi bemoaned that there were too many people talking at once. At one point in the meeting, Pelosi screamed, “Do the women get to talk around here!?”

The Washington Post reported that Pelosi was the only woman in attendance at the dinner. Reporter Ashley Parker shared a comment from Pelosi’s chief of staff, who recalled, “At one point, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross asked, ‘what exactly does the president get out of this deal?’ As Pelosi, the only woman at the table of 11, tried to make her point — that the president gets the cooperation of the Democrats, which he will likely need on a host of issues — the men in the room began talking over her and one another.”

After Pelosi’s outburst, she was not interrupted again, and was given free reign over the meeting to soliloquize. Apparently, she was pleased by this arrangement, and after her outburst she became very pleased with the direction of the dinner meeting. She reported, “We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the president.”

She also claimed that, in the meeting, she extracted certain guarantees from President Trump. IN a joint statement with her Democratic colleague, Sen. Schumer, she noted, “We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”

However, the White House reportedly didn’t remember the same details that Pelosi claimed, and was quick to present a different story. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders noted that excluding the border wall “was certainly not agreed to” during the meeting.

Further breaking from Pelosi’s claims, President Trump himself tweeted following the meeting, “No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote.”

Trump expressed on Thursday that they are “fairly close” on reaching a deal regarding DACA, however the plan needs to contain, “massive border security” but that “the wall will come later.”

Lindsay Walters, a White House spokesperson noted, “The Trump administration will not be discussing amnesty,” Walters said. “What the Trump administration will discuss is a responsible path forward in immigration reform, that could include legal citizenship over a period of time.”
