Partisan Threats And Anti-Trump Violence Explode Across Schools

While most Maryland residents were at home enjoying their Fourth of July celebrations, vandals snuck into Wood Acres Elementary to deface a school sign to display the message, “EW, TRUMP! MURDER HIS A**”.  The placement and shocking nature of the threat has caused anger in the close-knit Bethesda community, said Andrew Johnson the local resident who spotted and took down the message

“It wouldn’t have mattered if it was Trump, Obama, Clinton, Bush. It was a threat and you know it.”

This is just the latest in a long line of violent attacks and statements made against the President and GOP.  This rhetoric recently culminated in the June 14th shooting of a Republican congressional baseball team, victims of which included House majority whip Steve Scalise.

With the country speaking overwhelmingly against establishment Democrats in the last election is it any wonder now, that instead of focusing on the many problems facing their party, liberals are directing their anger at those chosen to lead?

It’s all over the media anywhere you look. From Kathy Griffin’s vile attempt at courting controversy, shown holding a severed head, to Madonna claiming she’s though about “blowing up the White House” mainstream media sources that are quick to start an uproar at Trump’s latest tweets are surprisingly silent when it comes to this behavior.

Statistics published in a recent Pew Research Center study shows that 4 in 10 Democrats and Republicans see the other party as an active threat to the country. It just goes to show that we’re finding ourselves living in an increasingly divided country split along partisan lines.  Where serious threats become glib buzzwords and echo chambers appear ready to permit even the worst behavior.

Even without calls to violence the dumbing down of mainstream discourse in the country is a sad indictment on how far we need to go to regain our lost values and ideals. In fact Journalistic standards have fallen so far that an annual 2016 Gallup Poll showed only 32 percent of Americans having a great or fair amount of trust in the media.

While many of us retain faith in the people of this great country to see our way clear of this impasse, we pray that further incidents are not needed to stop these efforts at fracturing us further.
