Los Angelas and a large part of the the western United States have been in a drought for many years.
Now LA has police that walk around and look for puddles.
The inspectors are not actual police officers, but work for the Department of Water and Power.
Primarily they investigate neighbor complaints about the mis-use of water.
Things have gotten so bad in LA, that neighbors are now calling to report wasted water so often, that there are now city employees that are paid to police the use of water.
The idea of “water cops” have been around for years. Las Vegas is another city using city inspectors as a way to save water.
A city in the middle of the desert makes sense, but if water challenges don’t improve in the city of angels, then LA is going to need more than just a team of people looking at puddles.
