Just a week ago, President Trump faced huge backlash from the left for calling MS-13 gang members “animals.”
But, in at least one case, that’s what they call themselves.
Joel Martinez, 23, a member of MS-13 is nicknamed by his fellow gang members “Animal.”
He’s also been sentenced to 40 years in jail, after admitting that he murdered a 15-year-old boy as part of an initiation ritual for the brutal gang.
“I stabbed the culero three times,” Martinez said, according to prosecutors at his case. “He stared at me and he asked me if I was going to, if I was going to stab him. I told him, ‘Yes, [MS-13] rules you.’”
Culero is a derogatory slang word that MS-13 members use for members of a rival gang.
Last week, President Trump responded to a question in a closed-door meeting about MS-13—referring to them as “animals.”
The mainstream media infamously took his quote out of context and misreported that Trump had called all illegal immigrants “animals”—rather than violent gang members like, for example, Animal—before being forced to correct the record later in the day.
