James Clapper, the former Director of National Intelligence, took to CNN to question President Trump’s mental capacity for office. Clapper, best known for perjuring himself in front of Congress, while under oath, also described Trump’s Arizona rally speech as “objectionable on so many levels.”
In his speech in Phoenix, President Trump took aim at the corrupt media, recapped his remarks on the Charlottesville Disaster, and speculated that he very may well pardon Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio – “The Toughest Sheriff in America.”
Talking to CNN host Don Lemon, Former Director James Clapper spoke about what he felt regarding the president’s speech.
“It’s hard to know where to start,” Clapper said. “[The president’s speech was] so objectionable on so many levels.” Clapper drew on experience he had while working with other heads of state, and bashed Trump, saying that even the very worst heads of rogue terrorist nations didn’t act like Trump.
“I find this downright scary and disturbing,” Clapper quaked. “I really question his ability … his fitness to be in office, and I also am beginning to wonder about his motivations …,” he said fearfully. Clapper speculated that, “maybe he is looking for a way out [of the presidency].”
Following Trump’s speech, CNN’s Don Lemon gave his take on the way the president spoke at the rally. “He’s unhinged. It’s embarrassing, and I don’t mean for us, the media because he went after us, but for the country,” Lemon said. “This is who we elected president of the United States? A man who is so petty that he has to go after people who he deems to be his enemy.”
“His speech was without thought,” Lemon continued. “It was without reason. It was devoid of facts. It was devoid of wisdom. There was no gravitas. There was no sanity there. He was like a child blaming a sibling on something else.”
The Washington Post, reporting on Trump’s Arizona Rally, was in equal hysterics. The mainstream media imagined that, “rage seemed to cloud his senses.”
One liberal journalist, Mark MacKinnon tweeted, “Trump surrounded on Phoenix stage by ‘Angel Moms’ who say their kids were murdered by illegal immigrants. This is pretty much a hate rally.”
