An unhinged liberal attempted to assassinate a Republican House candidate campaigning at a local fair in Northern California with a pink switchblade.
The incident was reported in local Oakland-area press, but has been otherwise ignored by national mainstream media news outlets.
According to Alameda County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Ray Kelly, attacker Farzad Fazeli went after Republican candidate Rudy Peters, who was manning a vendor booth at the Castro Valley Fall Festival on Sunday.
Fazeli, 35, approached the Republican and “in an aggressive manner and made disparaging remarks about his political party and elected officials.”
Witnesses say Fazeli began screaming, “F*** Trump, f*** Trump!”
Fazeli then threw a mug sitting on the desk at Peters, while screaming, “I’m gonna kill you, motherf***er.”
Peters came around the booth to defend himself against his crazed attacker–which enraged Fazeli further. After a brief scuffle, Fazeli then pulled out a pink switchblade from his pocket–but was unable to successfully open it.
Fazeli soon fled the scene, but was quickly arrested by police–who were just a few booths away from the attack. He was charged with one felony count of making criminal threats and misdemeanor counts of exhibiting a deadly weapon and possessing a switchblade.
Fazeli’s social media reveals a number of crazed anti-Trump rants, including several apparent calls for violence against Republicans. Fazeli claimed that “in the street, everyone is touchable,” and that “complacency is worse than being a shooter.”
Peters’ opponent, Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, later tweeted that he was “glad to hear Mr. Peters is okay.”
“But it’s NEVER okay to use violence to settle political disagreements (or any disagreement),” he added.
