Lake Mead Drying Up As Water Becomes Big Issue For The Southwest

Millions of people in Arizona, Nevada and California all depend on the water from Lake Mead and as the population grows in those areas, the water levels are dropping.

NBC News is reporting that Lake Meade is about 150 feet away from becoming a “dead pool”.

Where there is not enough water to force the flow downstream.

Although experts say that this is still years down the road, the pace of loss is very concerning.

Local leaders are looking at options to regulate the use of water to help conserve the critical resource. That could include limitations for citizens and businesses that could effect growth in those areas.

Arizona has been one of the fastest growing states in the country.

Solutions need to be found, because if the reservoir at Lake Mead can’t be re-filled, then it could have disastrous outcomes down river.
