Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks has been provided asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for almost six years, but his time looks to be running out.
Guillermo Lasso is running for president in Ecuador and if his lead holds then he will be the next leader of the Ecuadoran people.
Lasso has also been recorded many times saying that if he is elected, then Julian Assange will be asked to leave. Recently Lasso explained his stance to The Guardian.
“The Ecuadorean people have been paying a cost that we should not have to bear. We will cordially ask Mr. Assange to leave within 30 days of assuming a mandate.”
Julian Assange is a wanted man by the American authorities for publishing classified U.S. documents through his organization WikiLeaks.
If Lasso wins, and it looks like he will, Julian Assange will be kicked out of the embassy and arrested the moment he steps onto the streets of London.
Despite possibly losing his room at the embassy and his freedom, Assange continues his work at Wikileaks.
Assange’s options are increasingly limited.
