The governors of Massachusetts and New York have both put a stop to the deployment of their National Guard units to the southern border.
Governor Charlie Baker of Massachusetts is canceling the deployment of Massachusetts National Guard troops to the border. He claims he is doing so because of recent reports about the Trump Administration’s practice of separating immigrant children from families. (A practice, by the way, which the Bush and Obama administrations also carried out in significant numbers and never once received any flak for.)
While it’s true that the Trump administration has stepped up the practice of family separation, due to a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal immigration, the law of the land still prohibits the government from separating parents from their children indefinitely, or even for a very long time.
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has also said that the “vast, vast majority of children” who are being held in detention centers by HHS “were sent here alone by their parents. That’s when they were separated,” said Nielsen. Nielsen claims that, of about 12,000 children being detained by HHS, 10,000 were sent to the country alone or with strangers.
These children are also being cared for, not abused, according to Nielsen. “We have high standards. We give them meals. We give them education. We give them medical care. There’s videos. There’s TVs. I’ve visited the detention centers myself,” said Nielsen.
But despite the Homeland Security Secretary’s promises that this issue has been overblown, leftist governors are still using it as a pretext to flex their wimpy muscles and defy the President’s authority. Charlie Baker is foremost among them.
“Governor Baker directed the National Guard not to send any assets or personnel to the Southwest border today because the federal government’s current actions are resulting in the inhumane treatment of children,” said Baker’s communications director Lizzy Guyton in a statement made yesterday.
Massachusetts state officials announced early in June that Massachusetts National Guard troops would be deployed to the border in compliance with the President’s orders. National Guard forces were being sent in order to support border-security operations. One helicopter, some aircrew, and military analysts from Massachusetts were set for deployment to the border by the end of June.
The crew was to “provide aviation reconnaissance to offer an additional tool for observation and tracking of unlawful activity in the region,” according to the Massachusetts National Guard.
That plan has now been derailed.
Along with Baker, another treasonous leftoid slug has taken this opportunity to show his true colors as well. New York’s Governor, Andrew Cuomo, considered by many God-fearing Americans to be the Beast spoken of in Revelations, has also declared his own defiance of the President’s orders.
Cuomo has declared that “New York will not be party to this inhumane treatment of immigrant families. We will not deploy National Guard to the border, and we will not be complicit in a political agenda that governs by fear and division.”
Earth to Cuomo: you are the chief executive of the Government of New York State. Governments always govern by fear and division, especially in states like New York.
Every ounce of tax money your government thugs seize from taxpayers who just want to have their large soda and drink it too is seized by the methodology of fear and division in service of a political agenda that believes the government should protect us from soda companies instead of the criminals pouring across our border.
If that’s not frightening and divisive, I don’t know what is.
