Day One And New Congresswoman Already Protesting Nancy Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi
"Who's that knocking at the door?" - Nancy

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) arrived in DC for her first day as an incoming freshman congresswoman and did what any Democratic socialist would do; she joined a protest.

Cortez arrived in Washington after being elected to the House of Representatives last week.

She started her first day by joining climate change protesters that sat outside of Nancy Pelosi’s office. Cortez said, “I just want to let you all know how proud I am of each and every single one of you. For putting yourselves and your bodies and everything on the line to make sure we save our planet.”

Cortez went on to high five some of the protestors and chat with them about climate change. She even said that, “ We don’t have a choice. We have to get to one hundred percent renewable energy in 10 years. There is no other option.”

The Congresswoman’s first day on the job is already putting her at odds with the person most likely to be the next Speaker of the House. She may not be winning over her colleagues yet, but she is winning over her constituents and the extreme left part of the Democratic Party.

Ocasio-Cortez has even found common ground with Tucker Carlson from Fox News. The right leaning news anchor said he Cortez made a “very good point” when discussing the news that Amazon will receive massive tax breaks for a new headquarters in New York.

The first time Congresswoman is not like many of her colleagues. She is a Democratic Socialist that isn’t worried about speaking her mind or making macaroni and cheese on Instagram.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is young, but has a passion for politics. We’ll see if her days in Washington are dedicated to more protesting or if she can actually get something done.
