President Trump’s strong coronavirus response is winning him high praise… even from his political adversaries.
Radical leftist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) became the latest liberal to give President Trump credit where credit is due.
Ocasio-Cortez said she “agreed” with President Trump’s primary goals on the coronavirus response, and would “put politics aside” to help him achieve those goals.
“One thing that we need to do is put politics aside, and that’s exactly why Democrats have agreed with President Trump on his goals of paid sick leave and his goals of free coronavirus testing,” Ocasio-Cortez said, in an interview with Fox News.
“All of those things have been included in our package. We bump it up a little bit more, but, when you have a Democratic House and Republican Senate, compromise is the name of the game,” she added.
But she did admit that President Trump is going to have to compromise as well, to make sure everyone in Congress can live with the bill.
“The president is going to have to accept the fact that we are fighting for people who are going to be potentially unemployed,” she added. He’s going to have to accept the fact that we are going to push on doctor and nurse protections.”
As of Friday morning, no bill has been passed in Congress.
The process thus far has been contentious–with President Trump accusing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of loading a bill with liberal “goodies” that have nothing to do with coronavirus.
But Pelosi assured reporters that the two sides are closer than it appears–and that a final bill is expected to be passed sometime on Friday.
