Active Shooter In Chicago Hospital Leaves Four Dead

The streets of Chicago have seen its share of violence, but this time it happened at Mercy Hospital where a gunman took the lives of three people and himself.

One Doctor finished her shift and was heading out of the hospital when her ex-fiancé. Doctor Tamara O’Neil was killed by her ex after a brief altercation. The two were supposed to be married in October, but the wedding was called off in September.

After the man killed his ex-fiancé he kept shooting in what was described as a “chaotic” scene inside and outside of the hospital. The original altercation started outside the building according to local news.

One man killed in the shooter was a rookie police officer just 28-years-old and a married father of three.

The brave officer was killed after responding to the scene. Overall, two hospital employees and an officer were killed. The shooter also died, but it is unclear how.

According to WGN 9 in Chicago, “The Chicago Police Department has confirmed the shooter’s identity as 32-year-old Juan Lopez of Chicago. He also died Monday, but it is unclear if he took his own life or was killed by police at the South Side hospital.”

The tragedy is one that we have seen many times, but it doesn’t make it easier for any family involved.
