Alan Dershowitz, famed Harvard Law Professor and frequent guest of Fox News, criticized Sean Hannity for keeping his dealings with Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, secret.
Dershowitz, who is a defender of Trump, took Hannity to task over the rookie mistake. “I really think you should have disclosed your relationship with Cohen,” said Dershowitz, calling the whole scenario a “complicated situation.”
“It was minimal,” responded Hannity to the allegations made by Dershowitz.
“Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter,” said Sean Hannity, the host of Fox News.
“I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective,” added Sean Hannity
In addition to that, he said, “I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third party.”
“I understand that, and you should’ve said that,” Dershowitz replied. “You were in a tough position because, A, you had to talk about Cohen, and, B, you didn’t want the fact that you had spoken with him to be revealed,” he added.
“I have the right to privacy,” interjected Sean Hannity. “It was such a minor relationship.”
“You should have said that,” said Dershowitz.
During a Monday afternoon hearing pertaining to the previous FBI raids of Michael Cohen’s residence and office, Sean Hannity was revealed as being Michael Cohen’s unnamed client. The identity of Sean Hannity was shared by Michael’s attorney when the judge instructed him to do so.
Sean Hannity is a strong supporter of President Trump and frequently supports him on the shows on Fox News. He criticized the raid made on Michael Cohen’s residence and office and condemned the special counsel Robert Muller’s investigations into the Russian interference in the 2016 elections.
On Monday, 2 Democratic lawmakers made a call to Fox News and urged them to take Sean Hannity off air due to the undisclosed relationship between Hannity and Cohen.
Sean Hannity, on the other hand, claimed that the relationship was of no importance soon after the news broke. He also claimed that Cohen had never represented him formally during the legal proceedings.
“In response to some wild speculation, let me make clear that I did not ask Michael Cohen to bring this proceeding on my behalf, I have no personal interest in this proceeding, and, in fact, asked that my de minimis discussions with Michael Cohen, which dealt almost exclusively about real estate, not be made a part of this proceeding.” tweeted Sean Hannity.
“I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective,” added Hannity, saying that those exchanges “dealt almost exclusively about real estate.”
