Monica Lewinsky was uninvited from an event when former President Bill Clinton decided to attend.
Lewinsky broke the news on Twitter on Wednesday, writing:
“dear world:
“please don’t invite me to an event (esp one about social change) and –then after i’ve accepted– uninvite me because bill clinton then decided to attend/was invited.
“it’s 2018.
“emily post would def not approve.
Me”
Lewinsky did not say what the event was or what organization was hosting it, but she hinted that it was a magazine during a follow-up tweet, writing: “p.s. …and definitely, please don’t try to ameliorate the situation by insulting me with an offer of an article in your mag.”
Lewinsky became notorious in the late 1990s as a former White House intern under Bill Clinton, when it was revealed that she and the President had begun an extramarital sexual relationship.
For decades, Lewinsky was the butt of jokes about her affair with Clinton—but, in the era of #MeToo, Lewinsky has reinvented herself as an activist against sexual harassment in the workplace.
