Elizabeth Warren stuck her foot in her mouth on Wednesday night… after she told people to stop focusing on the death of Iowa college student Mollie Tibbetts–who was killed by an illegal immigrant–and start focusing on “real problems.”
“I’m so sorry for the family and I know this is hard, not only for the family but for the people in her community, the people throughout Iowa,” Warren said, on CNN’s New Day.
“But,” she added, “one of the things we have to remember is we need an immigration system that is effective, that focuses on where real problems are.” Warren then went to talk about family separation of illegal immigrants.
For suggesting that the brutal murder of an American citizen was not a “real problem,” Warren received a torrent of criticism–especially from so-called “angel moms” whose children have been killed by illegal immigrants.
Mary Ann Mendoza, whose police officer son was killed by a drunk-driving illegal immigrant, said she’s “disgusted by Elizabeth Warren.”
“Stop lying to the American people, because you don’t care what is happening,” Mendoza added.
Top Republicans also slammed Warren for her comments–including RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, who said, “An innocent girl was murdered by an illegal immigrant, and Elizabeth Warren treats it like an inconvenience to her talking points.”
Warren is expected to run for President in 2020–but, based on her comments, she could have trouble convincing the American people what the “real problems” that face our country are.
