Let’s Try Again. Who Is Trump’s New Labor Pick?

Donald Trump called a press conference Thursday to announce his new pick for the Secretary of Labor. Trump named Alexander Acosta, dean of Florida International University’s law school.

Trump’s first pick, Andrew Puzder withdrew his name after questions came up about his personal and professional life before he even started his confirmation hearings.

Acosta appears to be a much better pick. He is a Harvard Law School graduate an even clerked for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.

The announcement comes at a time when Trump has had some difficulty getting his cabinet in place. Even John McCain, Republican from Arizona stood up against the Trump’s pick of Mick Mulvaney to head the Office of Management and Budget.

Although John McCain fought against Mulvaney, he was approved on Thursday with a very slim 51-49 vote.

Trump mentioned the approval during the press conference and said that he was very happy to have Mulvaney approved, but frustrated it is taking so long.

None of Trump’s cabinet selections have gone smooth, and Michael Flynn got approved and then had to resign earlier this week. Trump has some good reasons to be frustrated.
