WikiLeaks made a bold but necessary decision to remove Julian Assange from his position as the editor-in-chief.
Late Wednesday, WikiLeaks made an announcement through Twitter that they are removing Julian Assange from the editor-in-chief role and replacing him with investigative journalist and former WikiLeaks spokesperson Kristinn Hrafnsson.

Julian Assange has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012 in order to avoid being extradited to Sweeden over a sexual assault allegation he has denied.
Only in the last six months has the WikiLeaks founder been isolated as the Ecuadorian government stopped allowing visitors and more importantly, cut his access to the Internet.
Assange has been on lockdown since March 28th, and after six months of limited communication, WikiLeaks made the decision to remove Assange as editor-in-chief. Assange remains the publisher of the document releasing website.
In his first public statement since becoming the new editor-in-chief, Hrafnsson spoke about Assange and the situation he was forced into.
“I condemn the treatment of Julian Assange that leads to my new role, but I welcome the opportunity to secure the continuation of the important work based on WikiLeaks ideals.”
WikiLeaks looks to be in good hands, but what about Assange? He still remains in the embassy in London with no real hope to be able to leave soon.
