Hope it was worth it.
The guy who admitted to taking a pickax and demolishing President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been booked with a felony charge.
The suspect, Austin Clay, 24, turned himself into Beverly Hills police hours after committing the crime.
LAPD, who have jurisdiction over Hollywood, picked him up from Beverly Hills and took him into custody. He’s been booked on suspicion of felony vandalism and is being held on $20,000 bail.
Clay smashed the star at around 3:30am on Wednesday morning. Private security was on the scene soon after the vandalism began, but were unable to stop Clay.
According to LAPD, Clay then “called police and advised he had vandalized Donald Trump’s star and basically called on himself and said, ‘See you soon.'”
Clay’s vandalism of the star isn’t the first time Trump’s star has been defaced: another man bashed the star with a sledgehammer in October 2016. He was also booked on felony vandalism charges.
The Walk of Fame has, in the past, replaced or repaired the star, and is expected to do so again–ironically, giving Trump the newest, shiniest star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
