Hillary Clinton: “Use coronavirus to push socialism!”

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton did a virtual “town hall” meeting with Joe Biden, to give the former Vice President her endorsement.

She also called for Democrats to use coronavirus to push far-left policies that couldn’t be passed under normal circumstances.

Calling the global pandemic a “terrible crisis to waste,” Hillary urged Democrats to pass socialized medicine.

“This is a high-stakes time, because of the pandemic,” Hillary said. “But this is also a really high-stakes election. And every form of health care should continue to be available, including reproductive health care for every woman in this country. And then it needs to be part of a much larger system that eventually — and quickly, I hope — gets us to universal health care.”

As Biden nodded approvingly, Hillary continued: “So I can only say, ‘Amen,’ to everything you’re saying, but also to, again, enlist people that this would be a terrible crisis to waste, as the old saying goes.”

“We’ve learned a lot about what our absolute frailties are in our country when it comes to health justice and economic justice,” she finished.

It’s unclear why Hillary thinks that socialized medicine would have helped protect Americans from coronavirus. Some of the nations with the highest fatalities, like Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom, have socialized healthcare systems.

Biden, for his part, has not endorsed socialized medicine–which caused controversy during the contentious Democratic primary.

Instead, Biden has called for an expansion of Obamacare, including a potential “public option” that would allow Americans to purchase a government-funded plan at a lower cost.

Biden, however, has not yet described whether or not coronavirus has shifted the calculus on his healthcare plans.
