The federal government is preparing to spend more than $130,000 to investigate 4-year-old’s “internal sense of gender identity.” This most recent grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) is merely the latest in a long line of highly suspect and wasteful grants that have been handed out to liberal research institutions.
This particular study is being conducted by the University of Washington, which was awarded the grant this past July. The project plans to interview a total of 250 children ageing four to six years, and their parents, and asked questions about, “gendered behavior.”
According to the grant, “”Prominent theories of gender development have discussed the degree to which gender identity results from an internal sense of gender and socialization processes … However, tests of these theories have been limited because, for most children, internal gender identity and environmental socialization substantially overlap, rendering it impossible to distinguish the relative impact of each factor on gender development.”
The study is explicitly designed to advance the, Gender Schema Theory, which posits that there are well over 50 genders. This underlying radical theory also denies that there is a biological component to gender, and that male and female biology have nothing to do with gender whatsoever.
Among the questions asked from the preschooler is a question that asks about the gender of toys they play with. The grant moves on to say, “The project will involve asking 250, 4- to 6-year olds and their parents to complete a battery of measures assessing early and current gender socialization, children’s internal sense of gender identity, children’s gendered behavior (e.g., preferences for gender-typed toys) and measures of related gender cognition (e.g., memory for gender-consistent vs. inconsistent behaviors) … These measures will allow the researchers to examine the relative contributions of internal gender identity and socialization and ultimately provide a more comprehensive theory accounting for early gender development.”
The researchers behind this project – and who are receiving tens of thousands in taxpayer dollars – are avowed gender radicals. Both Kristina Olson and Selin Gülgöz, of the University of Washington run an organization called the “TransYouth Project”, which studies ways to create gender confusion in children aged 3-12.
