In a historical move, the FBI raided the home of former president Donald Trump in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
The search was executed on Monday and came just a few days after Attorney General Merrick Garland spoke to the press about the expanding search into the events surrounding the January 6th Capitol riot.
The FBI left with items and papers from the estate, and Trump spoke out on Monday calling the raid “politically motivated.”
It has been reported that the Secret Service let them on the grounds and had a heads up on the raid. The White House claims they had no idea.
For Trump, this isn’t good.
It means that the government has enough of a case against Trump to get a search warrant for the former president.
This is an unprecedented move and Trump could very well be right that this is politically motivated.
The problem is, if he is guilty of a crime, then it doesn’t matter the motivations for the FBI if they find a punishable offense.
