Election Day didn’t provide the big blue wave that Democrats were hoping for, but they did win the House. Now are they going to use the new majority to lead this country in the “right direction” or are they just going to use it to attack the president?
CNN’s exit polling shows that majority of Americans think that the country is going in the “wrong direction” and with the Democrats winning the majority back in the House, they can do something about it.
But what will they do?
The American people have started trusting Democrats again, and now that the left controls the House, it looks like business as usual. It doesn’t seem like they have learned a thing.
Nancy Pelosi looks to be the Speaker of the House again after Democrats lost the majority in 2010. Strangely enough, Nancy Pelosi has lower favorability ratings than Donald Trump.
It seems the Democrats strategy since losing power is putting the same people back into power. They are not listening to the people.
On Election Day, the first Muslim women were voted into Congress. The first openly gay Governor won Colorado. Georgia and Florida almost elected black governors. The first lesbian Native American won a House seat. The left is screaming for change yet the Democratic Party isn’t listening.
Instead of finding new leadership, they are going with the same old faces. They could win the hearts and minds of the American people by effective governing, but it looks like their goals are not to improve American lives, but to stop the president.
Many Democrat candidates ran on the anti-Trump platform, and now that they have the power in the House to go after the president. Mother Jones published a list of 64 “Trump Scandals” the House could start investigating. See the full list here on the Democrats House Oversight website.
Gandhi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” If the Democrats want to win in 2020 and possibly even win the Senate, they need to focus on governing and improving the lives of American people. Attacking the president head on is a mistake. Trump is built for political attacks and almost impervious to them so far. Attacking him head on is foolish.
If the Democrats really want to win, they should rise above it all and really push to be great representatives and govern. The people will notice and they will be rewarded in 2020. If they just attack the president, the loudest person in the room often wins, and that is always going to be Trump. They have to find another way.
