Clarence Thomas Signals Conservative Shift Towards Marijuana Legalization

One of the most conservative judges on the Supreme Court hinted that it might be time to change the federal marijuana laws.

Clarence Thomas said a few things on Monday that would make Woody Harrelson very happy to hear.

“A prohibition on interstate use or cultivation of marijuana may no longer be necessary or proper to support the federal government’s piecemeal approach.”

“Federal policies of the past 16 years have greatly undermined its reasoning,” he said. “The federal government’s current approach is a half-in, half-out regime that simultaneously tolerates and forbids local use of marijuana.”

The judge’s comments came on the same day that Mexico announced that the country is decriminalizing recreational use of Marijuana.

Currently, there are 36 states that have legalized medical marijuana and 18 of those states have gone fully legal.

At this point, it seems like the changes to the federal marijana laws are coming soon.
