Likely Democratic nominee, Vice President Joe Biden, had attracted huge criticism last week for essentially disappearing in the wake of Coronavirus.
After his Monday speech, he might’ve been better off in hiding.
In a 15-minute speech broadcasted live from his home in Delaware, Biden flubbed and stumbled his way through a bland, boring teleprompter speech.
Biden kicked off the speech by repeatedly touching his face–something the CDC has urged Americans not to do in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
The former vice president then called for political unity and urged President Trump to avoid attacking political opponents… before attacking President Trump with highly-politicized language.
At one point, Biden appeared to lose his place on the teleprompter–wildly waving his hand for help on the edge of the camera frame.
“And uh, in addition to that, in addition to that, we have to make sure that we, uh, are in a position, that we are, we. Let me go to the second thing,” Biden stumbled.
Biden’s inability to even read a speech off a teleprompter sparked huge backlash–especially because Biden’s team had previously tried to claim that Biden’s “disappearance” was actually just the former vice president hunkering down with top experts to learn more about the pandemic.
Biden’s fumbles–as well as Trump’s highly-praised handling of the crisis–could ultimately cost him the election.
In the most recent poll, Biden’s lead over President Trump has collapsed to just 3 points–a statistical tie.
