Trump Previews 2018: “We Are Just Getting Started”

It's going well so far, let's hope the trend continues!

On Thursday, Donald Trump has been telling Republicans to support his agenda ahead of a critical legislative stretch in the coming days. It is believed that the coming few days are crucial as it could determine if the GOP can maintain its majorities in House and Senate in the midterm elections this year.

President Trump was in a light mood while addressing the GOP lawmaker retreat in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Another incident that took place simultaneously was the political fight that intensified in Washington. A critical decision had to be made whether to release a controversial memo authored by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) or not.

Donald Trump was appreciated by the crowd of GOP lawmakers and their families who gave laughs and applause for the POTUS. All of them were gathered to hear the speech of accomplishments of Trump’s tenure thus far. It happened in the Greenbrier’s massive ballroom. President Trump also joked about the age of the 83-year-old Sen. Orrin Hatch‘s (R-Utah) and needled Republican Whip John Cornyn (Texas) for being left off the GOP leadership list on the teleprompter.

According to Trump, it is believed that the Republicans, so far, have not received any credit for making America great again. This include stocking the courts with conservatives or passing a tax-reform bill and rolling back regulations. All of this forced multinationals and foreign companies to announce new investments in the region.

“For the last 12 months, I’ve kept promise after promise,” Trump said. “We’re just getting started.”

Trump mentioned the rocky start to his first year in the White House. The relationships were not as good as everyone wanted between GOP leaders in Congress and the President. However, this was not the case anymore.

“They have become very good friends and we’re now in battle together and in friendship together,” Trump added.

President Trump rallied the Republicans and motivated that the results achieved so far and promises fulfilled is only the beginning.

“The Republican Party certainly hasn’t quit. If we did, we wouldn’t be here today, we would be sitting home saying, boy, that was a tough year. Instead, that was one of the greatest years in the history of politics,” Trump continued.

When asked about the ‘deplorable’, he made the following statement:

“Deplorable and crumbs, those two words seem to have a resemblance. I hope it has the same meaning. But she called it crumbs. When people are getting $1,000, $2,000 and $3,000, that’s not crumbs. That’s a lot of money.”
