The above video shows the tourist and commercial streets of Brazil and the vulnerability of the public.
These are not scenes of the Favela (the Brazilian Ghetto), they are scenes from the bustling business districts of the country.
Hoodlums run wild and brazenly rob and beat pedestrians, grab from moving buses and chase down any target they choose.
How do they get away with it?
In Brazil, it’s illegal to carry a firearm in public. You may own a firearm but must keep it at your home or place of business.
This means any public place is a gun-free zone.
Criminals are free to attack with little fear.
Brazil also has in place some of the gun control measures that Obama is trying to pass.
First, applicants must pass a psychological test in order to purchase a firearm.
“Assault rifles” are banned and all applicants must explain in an essay why they have a need for a firearm.
Oh, and that reason cannot be hunting as it’s been illegal since 1967 (wild animals are considered State property), but can you shoot targets.
The results, which have been in place since 2003, have done nothing to curb violent crime as Brazil remains one of the most dangerous nations in the world despite having some of the toughest gun control laws on the books.
