Jeff Sessions Faces Down Protesters At Free Speech Event

"Free speech is under attack" "That's offensive, leave immediately, before we get triggered!"

During an address at Georgetown Law School, in Washington, DC, Attorney General Jeff Sessions faced down a large and rowdy group of student and faculty protesters, as he explained that free speech is under attack across American campuses.

The Attorney General spoke from the podium to the assembled protesters, saying, “We will defend your views and the right to express them in appropriate and effective ways. We celebrate the diversity of opinion, we celebrate your freedom to ask questions and to push back, and that’s part of American heritage.”

However, he was much harsher on the college administrators and social justice bureaucrats that have infested American institutions of higher learning, warning that the days liberal administrators, “control who gets to speak and what messages are conveyed,” are over.

“This permissive attitude toward the heckler’s veto has spawned a cottage industry of protesters who have quickly learned that school administrators will capitulate to their demand. Protesters are now routinely shutting down speeches and debates across the country in an effort to silence voices that insufficiently conform to their views,” all with the tacit – and often explicit – approval of college faculty and administrators.

Refreshingly, Sessions called on colleges across America to make a,” recommitment to free speech on campus and to ensuring First Amendment rights.” He announced, “Starting today, the Department of Justice will do its part in this struggle. We will enforce federal law, defend free speech, and protect students’ free expression from whatever end of the political spectrum it may come.”

Concluding his address, in front of the protesters, Sessions reminded them, “for the last 241 years, we have staked a country on the principle that robust and even contentious debate is how we discover truth and resolve the most intractable problems before us. Your generation will decide if this experiment in freedom will continue.”

It is clear, if it is up to democrats, free speech will cease to exist across this nation – and the legacy of rights that the Founders, and past generations have preserved for us will be lost forever.
