It Runs In The Family: Weinstein’s Brother Also Guilty

Everyone in Hollywood is complicit in this culture - your favorite actor, writer and director.... Everyone.

Amanda Segel – executive producer of the Weinstein Company television drama “The Mist” – has accused Harvey Weinstein’s brother, Bob Weinstein, of sexually harassing her.

Segel claimed that Weinstein had repeatedly made romantic proposals to her over the time period of three months during the summer of 2016, when he repeatedly and incessantly asked her to join him for private dinners.

The harassment began in the summers of 2016 and continued on and off for about three months until Segel’s lawyer, David Fox informed the Weinstein Company executivesthat she would be leaving the show if Bob Weinstein continued making sexual advances on her.

“‘No’ should be enough,” Segel told reporters, “After ‘no,’ anybody who has asked you out should just move on. Bob kept referring to me that he wanted to have a friendship. He didn’t want a friendship. He wanted more than that. My hope is that ‘no’ is enough from now on.”

A representative for Bob Weinstein denied the allegation and said that he never was engaged in any inappropriate behavior. His lawyers released a statement declaring, “”Bob Weinstein had dinner with Ms. Segel in L.A. in June 2016. He denies any claims that he behaved inappropriately at or after the dinner. It is most unfortunate that any such claim has been made.”

Segel’s allegations against Weinstein has come on the heels of the explosive allegations of sexual harassment and assaults levied against his older brother and longtime business partner, Harvey Weinstein.

After Segel had declined Weinstein’s invitation into his hotel room, he had began sending her emails that kept asking her disruptive and intimate personal questions. Weinstein further told Segel that he always wanted to be friends with her. She said that it was possible, but in a non-romantic way and emphasized that she was not very open to the idea of dating him.

In a scenario that actually echoes some of the allegations against Harvey Weinstein himself, Segel asserts that during this period Bob Weinstein invited her to a house that he had rented in Malibu for a party. When he called Segel to tell her the address of the house, she had gathered that it was not a party but just an invitation for the two of them to be alone. And she decided not to attend.

Eventually, after pressure from Weinstein Company executives, Bob Weinstein laid off, but carried a grudge ever since. During a notes conference call with the network executives about the show, Segel says that Weinstein became very angry and screamed at Segel over a minor production issue that she says was even out of her control. When questioned about the sudden outburst by others on the call, Segel expressed her own view that she had been sexually harassed by Weinstein for three months. After that particular incident, Segel had her lawyer contact the TWC executives with the ultimatum that she would leave the show if Weinstein did not stay away from her.
