The Democrats continue to make a case for impeaching President Trump. Rep. Gwen Moore (WI-4) suggests that the President deserves to be removed because she believed his response to the Charlottesville Disaster was inadequate.
Numerous other members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) followed Moore’s lead, and called for the President’s impeachment.
Moore a member of the CBC, complained that she was “very upset” and believes that it is time to “remove this man [Trump] from the office.”
“I’m very, very upset. I really think it’s really time for us to sort of forgive ourselves and really just admit that we made a mistake in electing this president, that Republicans being in the majority have got to take some responsibility for making whatever legal efforts there are to remove this man from office,” Moore said in a recent interview.
“You want him impeached?” the reporter asked.
“Yeah, I think so. I think I’m there,” Moore replied. “Of course, I believe in due process. I think the investigation that Bob Mueller is doing is very important,” Moore added.
Moore expressed that this is a “dark period in our nation’s history” and went on to urge the Republicans to work with elected official in order “to remove this man as our commander-in-chief and help us move forward.”
Rep. Cedric Richmond, the Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus reiterated Moore’s message, saying, “I never thought I would see the day when the President of United States would openly defend white supremacists.”
“I call on my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to hold this president accountable,” he added.
Moore released a statement that read, “As we once again hear Donald Trump defend those responsible for the deadly riot in Charlottesville and receive praise by hate groups like the KKK and neo-Nazis, the time has come for Republicans and Democrats to put aside our political differences and philosophical debates for a higher cause. For the sake of the soul of our country, we must come together to restore our national dignity that has been robbed by Donald Trump’s presence in the White House. My Republican friends, I implore you to work with us within our capacity as elected officials to remove this man as our commander-in-chief and help us move forward from this dark period in our nation’s history.”
Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) and Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) have already introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump.
