West Hollywood Votes To Remove Trump Walk Of Fame Star

This is what Appeasement looks like... they caved!

The West Hollywood City Council voted to take President Donald Trump’s frequently-vandalized star off the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In a meeting late Monday night, the council unanimously approved a resolution that would urge the Los Angeles City Council and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove the star, citing the Republican President’s “disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country.”

“Having a ‘star’ on the Walk of Fame is a privilege that is highly sought after by those in the entertainment industry, allowing Mr. Trump to continue to have a star in light of his behavior toward women, particularly in the #timesup and #metoo movements, should not be acceptable in the Hollywood and entertainment industry communities,” the resolution added.

If Trump’s star is removed, it would be the first time ever that a star has been removed from the Walk of Fame.

However, despite the West Hollywood City Council’s bombastic bill, it ultimately has no legal weight, because the star isn’t actually in the independent city of West Hollywood–it’s in the Hollywood neighborhood of neighboring Los Angeles–and is maintained by an independent, self-funding group called the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Ultimately, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will decide whether or not to heed West Hollywood’s recommendation–but it doesn’t seem likely that they will.

In the past, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has refused to remove a star for any reason–including convicted rapist Bill Cosby and accused predator Kevin Spacey.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which maintains the Walk of Fame, has refused all requests to remove them, citing the “historic” nature of the stars.
