The Media Found Their Next Obama, A New Media Darling On The Left

Beto O‘Rourke
Will Beto overthrow Ted Cruz?

One of the reasons that Senator Barack Obama was able to win the White House in 2008 was the way the media gravitated to the Chicago politician. It has been a while since the left had a new media darling, but it looks like they found one.

After spending the last few years as a U.S. Representative for Texas’ 16th congressional district, Beto O‘Rourke a 46-year-old Democrat from Texas is running against Ted Cruz (R-TX).

O’Rourke has captured the media’s attention and has been featured in articles on Vanity Fair, Politico, BuzzFeed, Yahoo News, GQ, Rolling Stone, The New York Times and Esquire. The Washington Post, one of the most liberal national media outlets, wrote about the Texas Democrat several times including a couple features and columns.

Ellen Degeneres even brought in Beto O’Rourke on her show last week to introduce the Texas Representative to the world.

The media are not the only people loving Beto O’Rourke right now. According to Dallas News, O’Rourke has raised over $38 million in the last three months. The total shatters fundraising records and will go a long way in helping the Democrat overtake former Presidential candidate, Ted Cruz.

With all the national attention, media coverage and talk show interviews, it is clear that the press is helping those fundraising numbers increase. Beto’s totals are over triple what Cruz has received.

There was another man, in 2006 that became a Senator an two years later became the president and he received similar media adoration. Ironically, O’Rourke is even outpacing Obama.

Keep your eyes on Beto O’Rourke, if he beats Ted Cruz, he could become a serious player in 2020.
