NBC Endorses Oprah For President in 2020

NBC gave up even the pretense of objectivity—when, in a tweet late on Sunday night, they endorse Oprah Winfrey for President of the United States.

“Nothing but respect for OUR future president. #Golden Globes,” the network tweeted, shortly before Oprah’s highly-anticipated speech at the Golden Globe Awards.

When Oprah finally did step up on stage to speak—as the recipient of the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award—NBC lavished even more praise on Oprah, tweeting that “a speech this powerful deserves a standing ‘O’. #GoldenGlobes.”

Despite NBC’s attempts to politicize Oprah’s speech—and, apparently, endorse an as-of-yet-nonexistent presidential run in 2020—she focused mostly on gender issues, not overtly political issues as many of her colleagues would.

Oprah declared that American culture was “broken by brutally powerful men.”

“For too long women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men, but their time is up,” she added.

Despite the strong speech, and NBC’s cheerleading, Oprah has been emphatic about the fact that she’s not running for President.

“I will never run for public office,” she said, with finality, back in July 2017.
