A group of radical leftists refused to practice “social distancing.” Now, they may have Coronavirus.
On Sunday, approximately 100 masked Antifa members stormed downtown Montreal—as part of an annual protest against “police brutality.”
The province of Quebec had banned public gatherings of 250 people or more. Antifa refused to cancel their rally.
“Not wanting to reduce the severity of the current health crisis, it must not be used as an excuse to forget and stifle the dissent that is taking place around the world,” claimed Antifa group Collective Oppose to Police Brutality, in a blog post.
“And this current situation is part of a broader ecological crisis. Obviously, crisis also means repression.”
Unfortunately for Antifa, Coronavirus may have spread like wildfire through the large riot. Currently, Canada—much like the United States—is ordering citizens to avoid large groups, to prevent the virus from spreading. Antifa’s refusal to do so could place them, and many others, at risk of being infected.
Quebec reported its first death from Coronavirus on Wednesday, March 18. Another 94 people have been infected by the virus in the province.
