Was this Trump’s plan all along?
President Donald Trump announced Sunday that the window for Democrats to negotiate with the Administration over the future of illegal amnesty for young illegals is over – these criminals and law breakers will soon be deported.
President Donald Trump’s tweet reads: “Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release. Getting more dangerous. “Caravans” coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!”
The “nuclear option” President Donald Trump mentioned would alter Senate rules, allowing for legislation to be passed with a majority of votes (51, in the Senate – which has only 10 members) instead of the current 60 vote majority needed to pass filibuster-proof legislation.
President Donald Trump felt necessary action needed to be taken after a report revealed a caravan transporting more than 1,000 individuals traveling from Central America through Mexico and entering into the States with hopes of entering illegally or by request for asylum.
It is unclear if Republicans have either the votes or the political will to modify Senate rules according to Trump’s recommendation.
Senator Jeff Flake (Republican – Arizona) on Sunday proclaimed that “plenty” of Democrats and Republicans are eager to find a longstanding outcome for “Dreamers” who profit from the DACA program.
“There are plenty of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who stand ready to work with the administration on legislation to protect DACA kids who call America home. Let’s do it,” tweeted Flake.
