Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is a newlywed.
Her groom? Tim Mynett, a man she had an adulterous affair with–and who received a number of large payments from her campaign fund.
“Got married! From partners in politics to life partners, so blessed. Alhamdulillah,” Omar wrote on Instagram, using the Arabic word for the English phrase, “Praise be to God.”
Mynett and Omar were both married to other people when their secret relationship began. It entered the public consciousness when Mynett’s wife, Beth, filed for divorce in August 2019.
In court papers, Beth Mynett claimed that Mynett was not just engaged in an adulterous affair with Omar, but that he was still being paid by her campaign–she claimed that his campaign responsibilities were “more related to his affair with Omar than to his actual work commitments.”
The Mynetts were granted a divorce in December.
Omar, meanwhile, filed for divorce from her own husband–Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children–in October, two months after Beth Mynett filed her own divorce. Their divorce was finalized in November.
Mynett is Omar’s third marriage, after Hirsi and Ahmed Elmi–who is, allegedly, Omar’s own brother.
