House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was mobbed by leftist protesters yesterday, in San Francisco, during a press conference.
The embarrassing episode came during a routine press conference in her district, when Nancy Pelosi was suddenly swarmed by dozens of protesters, holding hand-made signs and yelling, “Liar!” at the Congressional Democrat. Pelosi was at an event held by College Track, a program that aims to help minorities achieve academic success so they can attend college.
Elissa Salas, CEO of College Track, noted that most of the program’s participants are DACA Amnesty recipients. Acknowledging that the reversal of DACA would destroy his lucrative business, Salas noted, “As the fate of DACA shifts, I am cautiously hopeful. There is a possibility that enough Senators have shown their support for DREAMers to sway the vote. This might be the best chance that the DREAM Act has had since it was first introduced.”
The protesters were especially incensed with Pelosi’s 3-month debt extension deal with Trump, and wanted the Democratic leader to aggressively push for DACA Amnesty immediately. They assaulted the podium that Pelosi was speaking at and read their demands, “We, the undocumented youth, will not be a marketing chip for Trump,” and “Democrats created an out-of-control deportation machine and handed it over to Trump. We demand accountability.”
The Hispanic protesters demanded that Pelosi and the Democrats act to grant amnesty to, “all eleven million!” illegal aliens in the United Stated and not just the “Dreamers.” They chanted “Undocumented, unafraid!” and even went on to call Pelosi a “liar” as she tried in vain to deflect criticism of her deal with Trump.
While initially able to control herself, and the aggressive protesters Pelosi’s patients waned. “Let me say this, because you’ve had your say, and it’s beautiful to our ears to hear you’re protecting yourselves,” she said through repeated interruptions to her speech. Eventually, though, the Democratic Leader snapped, screeching, “Just stop it now!”
Following the embarrassing event in San Francisco, Jared Huffman, a California Democratic Rep and Pelosi ally, attempted to defend Pelosi without further angering the Hispanic protesters, “I understand why nothing we’re doing is good enough for them.” He went on, “Where we disagree is that we have an opportunity to protect hundreds of thousands of Dreamers while we work on the big picture,” he added.
Pelosi, addressing the event noted, “When we had the majority and President Obama was President we passed the Dream Act, it was a departure from what we always said, that it has to be comprehensive immigration reform, but we thought this was one bridge we could build to that comprehensive immigration reform.” In her efforts to calm down matter, she expressed that she understands the frustration that the protestors had expressed, and expressed that the Democrats negotiations with President Trump was necessary since, “Trump has the signature.”
“We have to pass the bill first and I wish [protesters] would channel some of that energy into the Republican districts so we can pass the DREAM act. But they don’t want the DREAM Act,” Pelosi said.
“And that’s an area of disagreement that we have in terms of tactic,” she said. “But certainly, we all agree that we should have comprehensive immigration reform,” she claimed.
