AOC: Workers should “just say no” to jobs

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) thinks Americans should boycott going back to work… even after the economy reopens.

In a video posted to Twitter, Ocasio-Cortez delivered her bonkers advice for unemployed workers:

“There’s a lot we could be doing, but ultimately… when we talk about this idea of ‘reopening society,’ only in America when the President tweets about ‘liberation’ does he mean go back to work,” she said.

Scoffing at the idea that people should work for a living, AOC instead urged them to boycott having a job.

“When we have this discussion about going back, of reopening, I think a lot of people should just say no, we’re not going back to that,” she said. “We’re not going back to working 70 hour weeks so we can just put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives.”

More than 20 million Americans have filed for unemployment in the last five weeks–in addition to many small businesses that are on the verge of collapsing under the government-imposed shutdowns.

Despite AOC’s wish that people “just say no” to capitalism, it appears that many Americans are itching to get back to work.

Over the past week, protests have swept the nation with one clear message: let Americans work again.

Already, the protests are beginning to have an impact. States like Georgia and Tennessee have announced they would begin reopening their states’ businesses, including restaurants and gyms.
